Another thing to look at is Boxee if you have an old computer laying around. You may already have a netflix device in the house if you have wii, xbox or ps3.
Roku is best off the shelf right now, you can also do a little hacking of older Apple TVs if you are so inclined.
So as I am up on all the tech options I don't know about netflix ... can anyone add anything as to the kids shows available from streaming?

Pretty much all the PBS kids programs/series are on streaming netflix. They are adding more and more Nick jr ones. As it is now, my kids will get tired of watching TV before I go through all the available streaming kids shows on netflix.
