Ok, I will admit I love cigarauctioneer and have made some good scores using it in the past.

But stuff like this always baffles me::-)

You would think if someone knew how to use an auction site they might also know how to search around for a better price

OVTC:

Perfecxion #5 4.875 40 Rosado Single $10.15

Some people don't have a chance to find these at a B&M any where near them so they find a "rare" stick online and will pay a premium for it. Famous probably wouldn't put these on the auction site if they thought they would only get 8.50 for them ... just sayin'

Yeah, I see that from time to time as well. My only reasoning in when it makes sense is if you've won other lots, you may pay just a bit more because you've already incurred the shipping cost, so you're not paying any extra for that element of it.

More money than brains I suppose? J/K Well not really but sometimes these things also become pissing matches and people will go above retail just to win the auction. I see it all the time on both CBid and Cigar Auctioneer. A good amount of auctions go past what you can just log on to eithers retail sites and just buy it outright. Probably why these sites continue to exist. If everything went at a loss they probably would have called it quits some time ago.

Of course, now that I clicked on the link, I see that people are bidding crazy prices for them.

This is not even half as bad as accidentally bidding an enormous amount (I.e. thinking you're bidding $50.50 and eBay thinks you meant $5050.00)

What a long day that was :-)

cigarauctioneer will send you a message if you try to overbid on something Famous has in stock. I guess the Opus sillyness happens because they have no singles available normally.

At that price I'd be willing to sell that dude a full box!

I always open up at least 2 other sites when I go on C-Bid so I can check their reg price. I've seen a lot of stuff go for full price and higher lately. Seems it's getting harder to catch a good deal. In the last couple of week I won two out of about 10-15, one was $15 less including shipping and the other was $70 off.
