All Cigar Discussion>Palate cleansing between cigars?
jonumberone 08:21 AM 10-16-2010
I generally smoke 2-3 sticks a day during the week with about 4-5 hours between each one with no problems.
On Sundays I have been smoking 5-6 with about 30 mins to an hour between.
After about the third one my palate is shot.
I have tried mints, tooth brushing, and more beer, and after a few puffs, I'm right back where I started.

I was wondering if any of the power smokers here have any tips to refreshen the palate?
Also wondering if this problem that will go away after time?

I have eaten at a number of top notch restaurants and between courses the chef will offer a spoon of sorbet or some Blu-Cheese mousse,
but I don't think it would be strong enough to combat a cigar.
Plus, I'm all out of Blu Cheese mousse :-)

Any thoughts or help is appreciated.

I think they offer ginger at sushi places to help cleanse your palate. I could be wrong.

Here's what I do with wine:

1. Begin with the least flavorful item.

2. Have some sorbet between tastings. It's dense and flavorful.

At an ashton cigar tasting event, they brought Almonds for people to eat to cleanse the palate. I tried it, and I guess it worked? I'm not sure how well after 3 cigars however.

Grabbed some Dark chocolate, Dark chocolate with almonds, Sorbet, and apple juice.
Going to give the Chocolate with almonds a try first today.
Even if the chocolate works I'll give the others a try tomorrow and report back.

Dom. Here's what I do. Not to say it's right or wrong bit you can give it a shot.

Almonds

Pistacios

Cheese

Chocolate, I only don't do dark cause I don't like it

Sprite

Just my two cents...

Ginger ale has always done the trick for me, plus it's damn refreshing.
