Ok, classic example of emotions out of control on Cbid. Buy now price was $17.50, check out the bids :-)

It's not like Cbid will never run another auction again.

same damn thing happens on the bay all the time...I have seen bidding frenzys where the bids go 4X the actual value of the item.... My theory is people don't like to see other people getting deals so they will pay larger sums just to be the "winner." It's silly.

Oh the classic "Pissing Match." I have always seen this on C-Bid but it has been out of control lately. If people don't blow past the Buy It Now price, they are buying sticks for way more than if they just went to CI and ordered them direct. Economy must be improving. :-) I have been watching the last month or so for a Cigar Jar use as a Dry Box of sorts and these have even been getting blown past what I could order it from CI direct. The key to C-Bid for me is put a bid in for what you want to pay and forget about it. If an e-mail notification comes in saying I was outbid, Oh well it will be back to try again soon enough.

I rarely buy there anymore cause of that.

I use the auto bid and go to sleep with no worries. Either I get it for no more than what I wanted to spend or I don't. No worries either way. I guess having money and intelligence are not related in any way.

I finally got on and made a few bids. I just use auto bid for the absolute highest amount I am willing to go. If it goes above that it isn't for me. Of course I research what I want and know the cheapest I can get it for. Some people on there have no clue.

Don't knock these idiots.
If it weren't for them, CBid wouldn't stay open just to let us grab the killer prices.:-)

This is a pretty cool tool for planning your autobid amount if you are so inclined:

I think it is out of date though:

I noticed that when I was buying a box of 5 Vegas. The bids shot way over the buy-it-now price so I just waited until they posted that lot again...got a box at a good 30% less that some of the other guys paid.

Still worth a look in my opinion, though I didn't notice that until you pointed it out.

That is why I hate cbid. People don't check the current value on CI

C-bid is worthless to me. I haven't used them in over a year. My B&M has better prices than C-bid.

I love this phenomenon. I used to sell an awful lot of stuff on eBay ('cause I was po, not a business or anything) and I would regularly get in-print books to sell for 75% over LIST just because a pair of smacktards decided to have an ego war.

It's not completely worthless. But you're right, deals are becoming more and more rare.

I did manage to score 20 Oliva Master Blend 3 Torps for $116 last week, but that's the only "deal" I managed in 2010 (actually, I think it's the only in the last 6+ months).

Some think that if the regular price is still low enough they can always cover with the BIN if they get back to it in time. If you know your pricing the auto bid is a good tool and just like the man said,,,Set it and forget it!

I don't mind that mentality when I'm selling something on eBay.

Another thing to keep in mind is to always cheack the Make Me An Offer section on CI. Many times the things on cbid are on MMAO and you can sometimes get your bid hit on MMAO at cbid prices.

I recently purchased a Rocky Patel 12 stick sampler on MMAO and got if for less than cbid prices. Gotta have a little market maker blood in ya to get the best prices. :-)
