Island (The other ones) Reviews>COHIBA 40 Aniversario 1966-2006 (The talked about possible fake?)

Broke down, bundled up and made the trek out to the freezing cold (3 F) garage to do a review on the infamous fake Cohiba (?) 40 Aniversario 1966-2006 Cigar. Never posted pics before, so not sure if these will work on the first attempt. Also never made a written review and dont know how developed my palette is, but I know what I like, so lets give it a go.

Heres the setup, Camel ashtray, really rappy Bic lighter, and a Stainless double guillotine cutter. Oh and of course the duck lamp. :-)

I cut it and find what looked to be a neat roll. Sorry for the bad pic, I couldnt get it good on the 5th try so I just said screw it, took the best one of the bunch.

1st 3rd- Lighing it took many torches and alot longer than usual to light, which could be due to the lighter being too cold. When I did get it lit and took a few puffs it emitted a good amount of smoke. The taste was earthy and strong. The draw was somewhat loose but not bad. The big problem with this one is the uneven burning of it. As the picture shows by the end of the first third it was very uneven. Towards the end of the 1st 3rd the flavor got less intense.

2nd 3rd- My brain must have been frozen because I forgot to take a picture. Still emitting a nice amount of smoke. It got so uneven I decided to torch the unburned leaves in an attempt to catch it up to the other side of the cigar. Somewhere in the 2nd 3rd it developed a more nutty taste. It lost its ash in the middle of the 2nd. The draw got tighter and the nutty taste intensified, which was nice. Still the problem of an uneven burn was too much to handle so at the end of the second I cut it and relit to start fresh for the final third. It was just too annoying to look at that uneven burn.

3rd and final 3rd- At the start of the final 3rd it develeoped a woody taste. It burned more evenly until the very end where it started to go uneven again but at least i was done with it.

Overall the taste and smoke quantity was pretty good, but with the burn being so uneven I found it annoying. Thanks for the look!

Moving this to the other review forum since it is widely agreed that it is not a Habano.

Thanks for the review! The burn issues may have been caused by the humidity in the store. Let the other one rest a few months and do another review you may find that the rest has helped. :-)

Glad this turned out well for you Pauly. I had the same burn issues in both that I tried. I had to keep them in check. The first onw was way worse though and I smoked it straight from the B&M. The second one was a wee bit better and had been in my humi at 66% rH for a couple of months. Sonds like a winner though.

I can't see the pics on my netbook for some reason. Which vitola did you try?

I dont know how to post pictures straight to a thread so you would have to click on the links I posted. If those done work then I dont know what the problem might be. I'm still learning the cigar terms but if this one isnt the corona, the other one I bought is. But I believe this one is the corona, someone please correct me if they can tell from the pics.
