I just bought an old pipe from a guy in my area who said it was his grandfathers, dated in the late 1800sn early 1900s. It has to be re threaded where the stem meets the bowl, and the bit at the end of the stem has broken off. The bowl also needs some work.
Can anyone recommend a good refurbisher that won't cost as much as my tuition? Also, does anyone know anything about "Round Top" french briar pipes? That's the brand of pipe this one is. Ill try to get pics when I can. Thanks!

Never used these guys but a $25 refurbishing is what they offer. Their basic ream, clean and wax is $12.

That's a really cool find man. Stumbling across a pipe in an antique store is nice ... knowing some of the history of the pipe like you found is really cool.

Try Walker Briar Works.
Ive sent about a dozen pipes to Dave and he has always done a great job.
Precision is also very good, but some pipes he doesnt do, like Meers.
I just sent him a 1929 Dunhill. He does the best work on vintage stuff.

Sweet! That's a really interesting pipe.
:-) Is that metal banding around the bowl or is the wood carved to look like that?

Wood carved. I'm not sure if there were studs to go along with those holes or not...

Floyd e-mailed me back pretty quickly! Before I send my pipe to him, I'd like to know if anyone has had any of thier pipes re-done by Floyd. Does he do a good job? Can I trust him?

Well did some googling on Floyd Norwood and looks like hes is very highly recommended by many people. I will be sending my pipe to him and I'll let you know when it gets back. I'll post some pictures here too.

"Them" is "him."

He is reliable and capable but he isn't a mind reader - in my experience you need to let him know what you expect and he will let you know what he can/cannot do.
