General Discussion>Anybody use Mozilla Thunderbird?
rizzle 12:50 PM 09-21-2009
I recently got a new laptop at home and I need an email client. I've found that I don't use the whole suite Microsoft Office enough at home to justify the cost of 2007, unless someone wants to sell me a copy for cheap. :-) And neither Vista or Windows 7 comes with a bundled in email client, so I'm going for the free stuff. My two choices are Windows Live Mail or Thunderbird. I'm leaning towards the Thunderbird and wanted to see if anyone had any experience with it. And keep in mind that I check my home email about once a week. I'm no tech geek, fer sure.

'Preciate it.

I use Thunderbird on Windows 7. It works and was easy to set up. I don't really have any complaints about it. For just checking your mail once a week, either of those options would probably suit you.

I've been using it for about 3 years. It's easy to set up and works.

When I actually used an email client, Thunderbird or Outlook Express.

Mozilla has a variation called Seamonkey that I use. I also use Opera, which I think is the best.

I've used it for a few years and like it. I access my two "Gmail" accounts and one ISP e-mail account with it and it works great!

I use it and I pretty much like it.

I did have a problem where something crashed (can't remember the circumstances) and it appeared to have 'lost' all my e-mail. I was able to recover, but it was a pain. In the course of researching it, I found that the problem was a file, prefs.js, that was corrupted and a common issue.

Since then I made a backup copy of the file. The corruption happened one more time and all I had to do was copy the backup over to the original, restart TB, and I was back running.

Here's a link that describes the problem:

So if you do use TB, I recommend backing this file up as soon as you get all your profiles set up the way you'd like.
