The great thing about randomly stumbling upon a smoke shop, is just walking in, and browsing the merchandise. Maybe you see something out of the ordinary, or something different you hadn't tried yet. A few of my buddies were out for dinner, with plans to just sit out in the yard afterwards and smoke a few cigars, until one of my buddies mentioned there was a cigar shop around the block. I suggested we go check it out, and upon walking in noticed a nice selection of stogies. I grabbed a Padilla Signature 32 Robusto, after hearing pretty good things about them I was kinda excited to try something new.
Well, the four of us grab a cigar, pay at the counter, and are about to head out when the manager says "Hey boys, we don't have any members in our lounge, so if you'd like to smoke back here, you are more than welcome." We head back into one of the finest smoking lounges I had ever been in, and for the next two hours my three friends all realized that cigar smoking was something they wanted to take up.
Anyways... onto my cigar.
Beautiful construction and appearance, something you come to expect with Pepin cigars. After a cut and a pre-light draw, I knew I was in for a real good smoke. The first few pulls were very nice, crisp and flavorful. The cigar's woody/spicy flavor was strong, but not overpowering. The burn was exceptional, although I'm noticing really even burns on almost everything I've had recently.
All and all this night had two great finds; a really nice BM/smoking lounge that was more than generous, and a really really good cigar, one that will find its way into my humidor.

Good question Greg, I didn't know they changed the blend. Hmmm, I'll have to check it out next time I head up there.

The new blend is very, very close to the old one and is still is a good cigar. Pepin and Padilla parted ways in April of last year, unfortunately. Sounds like a great place to revisit to investigate.
