Last night was great! My dad is in town for a couple of days and we decided to get together. My wife and I went to dinner with him, my sister and her two kids. It was nice to sit around a big table and talk for a while - we don't get together as often as we should.
After dinner my dad and I headed to another restaurant to hang out and drink beer while everyone else went home. I surprised him with a RP Vintage 1990 that he's been wanting to try. So we sat on the patio of this cool downtown restaurant drinking great microbrews, smoking good cigars and solving the worlds problems for a couple of hours. We hashed over old times, politics, religion, women, and work - what you normally discuss over good cigars and beer.
Man, we need more nights like that! It was great to visit with him and share a smoke.
:-)
Just thought I'd share ... hope you don't mind.

It's interesting to see the things we agree on and the things we feel differently about. I've come to really enjoy his company and wish we lived closer. Not that I've ever disliked his company but as I put a few years behind me and settled into life a little more comfortably I was able to put off the young man's "no one older than me could possibly know what they're talking about" mentality and I've been able to learn a few things.
:-)
But I'm heading to KY in October to spend a few days with him and we'll definitely be sharing another smoke or two then.
