I finished up at Officer Candidates School yesterday on an unusually cool morning in Quantico. The family and girlfriend came up which was great. Yeah it was only six weeks, but that was six weeks spent with absolutely no idea what was going on out in the real world which was really quite weird. I did pretty well and set myself up for success at TBS in a year. Last night I enjoyed a few beers (Bell's Two Hearted) and a CAO America (I was at OCS for the 4th of July...). First cigar in a month an a half and it was pretty delicious--a lot better than I remember the America series. I'm excited to a) sleep b) eat my ass off c) catch up on the news and reviews on here.

^^^^ Best post so far! NCO's are the backbone of any service. Listen to them, respect them, and you will never have a problem leading soldiers. :-)

Congratulations and thank you for your service.

Nice job, Lieutenant.

Remember, you're a new Officer, don't assume you know ANYTHING about the Military or what you're doing. As Top said, listen to your SNCO's. Additionally these guys know their **** and will teach you all they know, but treat them right.

:-)

Thanks everyone. Yeah I've had some great SNCOs so far, one GySgt and a MSgt in particular, but the SNCOs on staff at OCS were fantastic. I can't wait to work with guys like that in the future. I'll definitely be enjoying this little break before finishing up my last year at Virginia Tech. It's gonna be a good one too... I watched the football team's first public scrimmage yesterday. Outstanding.
