Got a Super Jolly Man Astoria today locally for a good sum.
I am happy. Beans to be sacrificed in the AM. Burrs sharp, in slightly used shape, probably another 600 lbs worth or so use left in them. :-)

The home roast will be better for it.

Keep your eyes on your local craigslists, my friends.

It appears to be money well spent. Now to figure out where my "dialed in" points are for espresso, moka, and presspot.

Way cool! I think life on the burrset is 600-lb but, if they crapped out tomorrow you're only taking $40. My burr test is any sediment in press coffee. :-)

Some guys get creative and slice the hopper down several inches to "under-kitchen-cabinet" height. The more clever amongst them first lined up the a correct diameter lid before putting saw to hopper. A replacement doser lid fits nice on the Mazzer-Mini hop-chop, good for about 1/2 pound in the bin.

I've been debating the possible MacGyver style surgeries already, Moo-san. :-)

I'd like to get into real coffee, but I would have to give up an hour of sleep
to really enjoy the morning. At present I have it timed to roll out of bed, into
the shower, while I wait for the water to warm up I brush my teeth ( I only use a
trickle since I have a "restrictor plate" shower-head, so it takes longer).
get dressed...by that time the 'pipes are gurgling' so I do the "other morning stuff"
and then out the door. This morning I got up a little early to have some toast and
milk, and I'll be damned if I didn't feel full at work. Usually, I am a junk food junkie
first thing since there is a rumble in the belly. I LOVE DARK RICH COFFEE AND
ESPRESSO, so maybe another half hour couldn't hurt.

What are you using that takes sooo long?

On the French Press its... Boil, grind, brew, press, cleanup... 8 minutes tops.

On the espresso machine its... warm-up, grind, brew, cleanup... 12 minutes tops.
