NEW YORK -- Former CBS News anchorman Walter Cronkite, whose authoritative delivery of the news during turbulent times made him "the most trusted man in America," died on Friday, CBS said. He was 92.

I am old enough to *just* remember the Cronkite era (maybe three-four years' worth).
It was only in later years that I learned about how he "spun" Vietnam...but I'll put that aside for now.

I agree. The orginal spin-meister. I'll let him rest in peace though and let history judge his approach. Well said.

Myself being born in 1953 I have a great respect & sense of gratitude for his body of work. He was man of great integrity.
I know he will rest in peace with the other news casters from my youth Chet Huntley & David Brinkley.

I missed him the day he stepped down, and I was a kid.
It's never been the same since. The very last place I'd ever look for the truth about anything nowadays is on the news.
He was a good man.

I don't remember watching another entire 1/2 hour of news after he stepped down. RIP.
