...is downloading now. Although I'm guessing I am not alone as I'm only hitting 500k on a university T1.
:-)
Anyone else going to try it out?

We have several techs using it. They say it's good but I haven't heard specifics yet.

We've been testing with it for a couple of months now....... I refer to it as Vista Plus.
Seems like most of the changes are aesthetic.
All that said, it is
somewhat better.

Are you upgrading to the RC today? I'm mostly interested in testing the "XP Mode" virtualization.

I'm dual booting it on my Asus 1000he netbook along with win xp. I run vista 64bit on my desktop. Runs well so far but I agree St. Lou Stu about most of the changes being aesthetic. The changes are nice though and do seem to make it better or look better anyway. As far as upgrading once it's officially released, Well see...

No plans to run the RC, or 7 for that matter.
Once our license runs out with Vista (a loooong time from now), we'll move on, but now we know what we need to know. We just de-supported our last 98 machines last year.
:-)
\Correction.... not de-supported, just stopped shipping w/ 98 loaded.

Windows 7 is shaping up to be the biggest corp OS from Microsoft since NT. So many have skipped Vista, but once 7 is out, support on XP will fizzle out quick.

Yep, will be stuck with it sooner or later...

Downloaded it last week and installed it on a VM, but haven't had a chance to play with it much yet.

Vista Lite might be more accurate than Vista Plus. I have a test PC with 1GB of RAM decent CPU, HD, etc and it's a DOG running Vista. It's fine running Windows 7. It uses almost 500MB less RAM when sitting idle after bootup.
Basically they removed a lot of the "code bloat" that was at the root of the poor performance people problem complained about with Vista. I agree with the above statement that once Windows 7 is officially released, XP support will vanish. Microsoft wants people to get off of XP since it's 7 years old. Windows 7 will be a good enough reason for most companies/users to make the switch.
