Yes, THAT Murphy...the one who wrote all those ^%$#ed up laws!!!
So, driving back from the UPS distribution, my engine starts rattling...*&^%
Ease up on the gas, roll the window down to listen.....*&^%
Yup.
Right about that time that I said it....it happened.
Serpentine belt heats up, slips off pulley, RIGHT INTO the fan....and what does the fan do with the belt???
Goodbye water pump.
So far it's been a great Monday.

I blew a timing belt on the entrance to the NJ turnpike 2 years ago. Nothing like hundreds of cars and trucks screaming by you at 65+ mph to get the heart racing.
Good luck with the repairs and beware of invoking the Murph too soon, because it can always be worse and he'll gladly show you how...

Hope the rest of your week is better than today. Smoke a great cigar tonight, it will take the sting away...

So your belt jumps off the pulley and your water pump goes out. Big deal. It's nothing that three or four hundred dollars, a good cigar and about
8 inches of Jack Daniels can't fix.

The good news is, at 0100 this morning she was resuscitated!
:-)
Some notes here -
- FIVE different Stores that DON'T have a water pump for a 98 Dodge? WTF?? We lost three hours just trying to find a COMMON part!
- Those little fan shroud nuts have a homing beacon for the drain pan when dropped...so does your cigar...
:-)
- Taking coolant hoses off...Superglue was NOT used, but you will swear it was.
- And THANK you to the ""wonderful"" designers of the Engine. Brilliant idea to locate the hose for the water pump UNDER the A/C Compressor. Brilliant. I believe I invented several new &^%$ words....
