Wife's boss headed there and would like to see if she'd grab me some sticks. Thanks.

I haven't been to McAllen in years, there is a Tinder Box there.

Good question. I am not aware of one. There are two in Laredo, one has potential the other is over priced and for people from Monterrey. I will be in the Valley this weeked and will let you know if I find anything.

Maybe their is a good shop in Matamoros. :-)

Maybe a BOTL/SOTL, from the valley, can chime in on Casa Petrides Tobaccos.

That looks like it has potential.
Checked the TinderBox site but it appears its selection is limited.

Well I stopped by Casa Petrides on Saturday. Easy review: Great place. :-)

To give you an idea of the humidor: I am 6'3" and had trouble reaching the top shelf of singles. Any NC cigar you are looking for you will find at Petrides. Well unless you are looking Anejo's. :-)

On top of that they have a lounge with full bar, great atmosphere and plenty of accessories and food too. There might be other places in McAllen but I sure didn't bother.

I even found a few tasties to bring home with me too:

I was in 2 weeks ago and was very happy to see the bar had been expanded and they now have a lot of beer on tap, including some tasty craft stuff.

The staff are very nice and I don't miss a chance to go in to the Casa.

However I never said this before. But after frequenting this establishment quite a bit I have to warn all my B/SOTL. Do not under any circumstance take cigars home from their humidor. Buy and smoke there only. Or bring your own. As long as you are drinking they don't mind.

Why not take them home? I had my own but bought a couple per personal etiquite rules. :-)

Also, we need to meet up down there or corpus, or pharr, or SA sometime .

I encountered mold and beetles in their humidor several times. I found boxes completely consumed by beetles in the humidor. It wasn't exactly unknown to the regulars that they had issues.

Like I said if you are drinking you don't need to buy cigars.

As for a herf, definitely or if you are in the Houston area too.

Ohhhh. Yeah, I did not pay that much attention. I just grabbed a couple Padron 3000 so I felt better and then lit up what I brought.

One thing I can say is that I was pretty dang impressed with the selection. They even had some of the rare Fuente stuff like Forbidden X etc.

I do not get to Houston very often. Almost never, actually. I cover SA, out to Del Rio, down to Brownsville, Corpus, Victoria and back up.

Ya it was rare Fuente's that I found the beetles. Started lookin around and seeing some old boxes. Popped them open and was shocked to say the least. After getting to know some of the locals I asked a few descreet questions. They have a huge humidor and great selection, I think they don't get the turnaround on some stuff add that to a lack of maintenance and I think that is the cause of their issues. That and employee's that while nice people who I know by first name don't know the difference between mold and plume.

Well I get to SA and the Valley every once and a while. Might even be in SA for Labor Day herf. I'll let ya know.
