Has anyone tried this cigar? I got a couple gifted, and I was shocked at the smell ,taste and overall quality of the ones I got. These 6 x 46 or so sell for 13.50 each, are these made by Davidoff?.....Any thoughts?

I have gone through a bit more than a box of these since they came out.

Extremely well made and they smoke well IMHO.

These are fantastic. Unusual, but fantastic. I especially like the "Chequers" size.

You mentioned that these may be "off". Specifically, what were your impressions?

Light weight, off smell,{mold},flat, dirty taste, hot burn, poor construction.I put it down and had lunch, came back to it, still awful.I lit a CAO MX2 afterward to see if it might be my palate, the CAO was wonderful....It could be a bad one ,I will try the other one in a week or so, it looks Identical, and is from the same box, ...

When I saw your oiginal post, I actually figured you might use the term "mold" with regard to how it smells.

In my experience, all things made by Davidoff have a signature "mustiness" to them. I actually find it to be wonderful and somewhat indicative of the age of the tobaccos in the blend. But I can see why it might have been off-putting for you.

While I like the Winston Churchill series from Davidoff, I do find it to be much richer than expected. Not spicy per se, nor overpowering. But definately fuller; richer.

As long as your humidor is operating as it should, I'd let the other one rest for a bit (sounds like you plan to) if for no other reason than to stabilize a tad. I'm hopeful that the next time you light up the cigar, it will be a much better experience!

I have contacted my source to get a few more of these for comparison purposes,I will let you know how it turns out.I can not blame my humidor, every thing else I have smoked for months has been properly kept,no problems.I have tried and enjoyed lots of other Davidoff products, but I am not a regular ,as you seem to be.Thanks for your input...

I agree with you Tom. I didn't like them at all. Very flat and boring but construction was top-notch in the few I have had.

I did not care for the limited few I have smoked when they were first released; however, now that they have more age in many of the B&Ms they are now one of my favorites.

PapaJohn, what are your thoughts now? Do you like these more now with age?
