General Discussion>17 Months Goes By Quick!

Brandon just turned 17 months and good god, what a trip.

It's really fun (and exhausting) right now.

It's great seeing him discover new things and say new words each day - it's awesome.

His personality and temperament is also great. He's laid back, gets the jokes, likes doing grown up stuff like drinking out of real cups instead of sippy cups, using a fork.

Yesterday, we went to lunch at a Tex-Mex place and he saw us dipping our chips in the salsa. He wanted to dip it in the salsa so we said "we'll do it buddy" and tried the fake dip. He immediately knew that there was nothing different about the taste of the chip and got pissed - LOL! (BTW - He now digs salsa)

He also understands more Spanish than I do - HA!

We have a Bolivian nanny that speaks nothing but Spanish to him all day. She doesn't slow it down for him at all and he knows as much as she is saying in Spanish as he understands us in English. Amazing.

Sometimes he says stuff in Spanish and I don't know it's Spanish until I "clicks - Hey, that's Spanish" or until the nanny tells me. When he was about 13 months old, he was in the Kitchen saying "meduh, meduh, meduh". I thought it was baby talk. Apparently, he was saying "Mi da, mi da, mi da" which means "give me" - LOL!

Too great right now

Thanks for letting me share, I know how people don't really care when they ask how your kid is doing and don't tolerate more than a "Good".

He looks like he's plotting something. :-) Cute kid mark...

Reminds me of many years ago. Treasure everyday Mark. 17 months will be 17 years in the wink of an eye. Keep this thread going with updates. I for one would enjoy watching your son grow up.

Well Mack will be 18 at the end of April and both live at home rent free.
Any talk back or butt kicking now is at their own risk :-)

Great post. My two little ones are almost at 4 months now and it seems like just yesterday we brought them home from the hospital.

Correct, I mixed up the two which is a good indicator how much more Spanish he knows than I do - LOL!

"Mi da" = look
"Da me" = give me
