Howdy, guys.

Just thought I'd drop in to see how everyone's doing, and share an idea that I came up with the other day that might be of interest.

Since I'm still out of work with nothing much to do these days, and ample time to do it in, I found myself wondering what to do with all the cigar bands I collected over the years. Many of us like to hold onto the bands for the artistry of them, but also as a memento of good cigars and/or good times with friends.

If you happen to have a heat laminator and some business card sized pouches, this is a great way to preserve and protect the bands and grow a collection that will weather the test of time.

Just figured some of y'all might find it worthwhile.

Heh. Maybe I should hang a sign around my neck: "Will laminate for gars"

It really does a nice job of protecting the band, and you can still see the embossing. This shot was taken through the lamination, showing how nicely it turns out. The pouches themselves warp a bit, but it's better than the alternative of having a bunch of bands scattered about. This makes 'em easy to show to friends, and it's impervious to beer spillage. :-)

How do you get your bands off so nicely without any left over paper from the back glued part to the front design?

Veeeeery carefully. :-)

Many cooperate nicely. For instance, the DC Maximus and Opus bands were very lightly glued - almost as though they knew we'd want to save them. The others were cut right at the overlap. If I find there's a band that's being uncooperative, I slide it off the 'gar, or (very carefully) cut it before I start smoking.
