Stopped by Holts B&M at lunch....Picked up some DPG Blue Generosos and noticed a new label design....Anyone know if the blend was tweaked at all?

Label's been like that a little while now I think. The torpedo is one of my everyday smokes, and it doesn't taste any different to me.

The blend isn't different and yes, the bands changed around June of last year. I picked up a box of fundadores and a cab of preferidos last June and that was the first time I saw the new band.

the fundadores are awesome. there is no difference in the blending, just a band change.

I know this doesn't help your question, but I like the old band better than the new one.

Like the new band better...

But the wrapper has definitely been darker for some time now on the Blues... also on the Tatuaje Browns.

Both have gotten darker sometime in the last 1-2 years. Maybe just color variation of the same tobacco, but considerably darker across the board on all Blues and especially Tat brown Tainos etc.

I've heard rumor that the wrappers are different but taste had not been effecting significantly. Could be wrong though so take that as a concrete statement.

Band sshmand!

I don't think the blend has changed but all the sizes do taste a bit different as is to be expected. Everyone has their favorite but to my tastebuds they are ALL fantastic :-) :-)

I did see a discrepancy as to whether this was an ecuadorian wrapper or nicaraguan in MANY places... if you look at reputable retailers and reviews there has recently been numerous conflicting reports... maybe wrapper/blend change, maybe the new 4 vitolas added to line neccesitated it, maybe just darker leaf...

ps. AladdinSane great to hear from you bro! stones rock!

At the latest Pepin event, his head of operations said it was a new band and that was it. The cigar is the exact same. We even talked about the pink on the black labels and he told me the story of how it happened. He was not happy about that one.

I tried one of the Fundadores on Friday and I remember thinking the wrapper was pretty light actually. The taste was typical DPG Nicaraguan tobacco flavor but since it was my first blue label Pepin in quite a while, I can't say for sure whether the blend has changed. I would think it's doubtful though.

Saw a retraction in Afici. about the wrapper on these...

They orig. said Ecuador, and corrected it to Nicaragua.

ps. I was in a B&M thurs, and the older Blues were for sure lighter than the new. Just wrapper variation (as what happens with the many cigars - ex. Tat, Padron)
