My grandmas 90'th birthday is on sunday and I am suppost to bring a salad of some sort.

I dont want to do the normal potato salad and stuff like that. I want something different or interesting.

I have surfed around on some recipe sites for a good bit but nothing struck my interest.

Anyone have any good recipes?

It can have noodles, vegetables, fruit...................whatever.

My mom makes this amazing broccoli salad that has a semi-sweet dressing w/ sunflower seeds, raisins, baco bits, and I think maybe a couple of other tiny ingredients.

If that sounds interesting to you I'll get a hold of her and get the recipe.

2 heads broccoli
1 head cauliflower
1 bunch of grapes
4-5 strips of bacon
1 small bag of sunflower seeds
1 cup of Mayo
1/4 cup sugar

Cut the broccoli and cauliflower into small florets (less than an inch). Cut the grapes in half. Cook the bacon crispy and crumble it up. Mix the veggies, grapes, bacon, seeds together in a bowl. Mix the mayo and sugar together for dressing. Refrigerate both and stir dressing into salad right before serving.

ROFL :-)

Yes, that's about the recipe she uses. No grapes or cauliflower, but that just sounds like personal preference!

How about some Ambrosia Salad? It's a sweet, fruity salad. And really easy to make.

Ingredients
1 (8 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
2 1/2 cups shredded coconut
1 (8 ounce) can fruit cocktail, drained
1 (8 ounce) can pineapple chunks, drained
1 (11 ounce) can mandarin oranges, drained
3 cups miniature marshmallows
1 (10 ounce) jar maraschino cherries, drained (optional)
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions
In a large bowl, combine the whipped topping, coconut, fruit cocktail, pineapple, mandarin oranges, marshmallows, cherries, nutmeg and cinnamon. Mix together well and refrigerate for 30 to 45 minutes.

That sounds pretty good too.

I have made something like that before except you add a packet of banana pudding in the whipped cream mix it all up and freeze it.

I may have to try this. The broccoli one sounds good too.

In Nebraska, real seafood is somewhat hard to come by.

I always liked throwing some lettuce, blueberries (or other berry), sliced strawberries, some nut (varies), mandarin oranges and feta cheese and call it good.
