A few years back, me and some Dutch friends, did a mega group buy at Taboo cigars and I ordered a sampler of these Taboo SFBC (Special Forces Boot Camp) for myself amongst other things. These cigars have been sitting in my humidor since and the cellophane started to turn yellow so it was time to light one of these puppies. I picked the 6x54 torpedo.

The wrapper of this cigar is deep, dark and oily with a few thin veins. The cigar has a barnyard and straw smell to it. The construction feels good and the predraw, which tastes like peppery dry tobacco, is good too.

I taste a strong coffee flavor, dry wood and just a hint of chocolate. After half an inch the coffee changes into a herbal flavor which slowly pushes all other flavors away. Halfway the chocolate makes a comeback, but only on the background.

After two thirds I taste dry spicy herbs and some pepper. The aftertaste is pure pepper. The pepper flavor is becoming dominant and I taste it on my lips too. The herbs slowly fade away until all I taste is black pepper and some wood.

This cigar lasted me for two whole hours. The draw was fine, but I had some burn issues. The smoke is thick and white, and there is plenty of it. The firm ash is dark and frayed. This cigar is definitely full flavored and full bodied.

Would I buy this cigar again? A quick look on the
Taboo website confirms that that is no longer possible.
