My thoughts are with you. I have been dealing with medical issues with my 11 year old tabby and even at a lower $$ amount it has been a concern. It's a horrible place to be.

One thing I have been thinking about in our situation is that cats don't understand the future or the odds. They don't think or experience the world like people they just know whether they are comfortable and happy or not in the moment. I hope you have good luck and are able to find a way to help him.
