In the world of amateur radio, we see things like this pop up from time to time. It is interesting, given the severity of the problem, that is took 2 years (or at least 1 year) before they were able to identify the perp (or was it sheer dumb luck and he was pulled over for a different reason).
In general, it is a very bad idea to mess with the airspace controlled by either the FCC or the military. Bet you all knew that.

While the article doesn't say so, there are a host of federal charges that could come out of this. Hope that he doesn't have to pay the fine and merely gets educated. This type of stuff can put lives at risk.
