Reviews>MTS June: A&C Peterson Escudo
In hopes of stimulating conversation in this section of the board I went looking for a classic blend that people may feel passion about. To my surprise Escudo had not had a review opened yet and being as I had a tin with about a year age on it I made one.
Escudo:
This old classic is a Perique/Va curley cut tobacco.
Review will come shortly, after I smoke some
:-)
In the meantime post up your reviews.

went out a bit ago and enjoyed a bowl of Escudo in my new Tinsky.
The disks in question have been in a ziplock bag for a few months. I had about 6 or so disks in there from my first tin of escudo that I bought a while back. This allowed them to dry a bit, but without drying out. They were still somewhat moist, but not as much as in the tin.
I used 2 full disks (rubbed out) to fill the bowl. They lit easily, and stayed lit, needing only 1 relight for the whole 45 or so minutes of smoking.
I am a VA/Vaper fan, so Escudo is obviously something I would enjoy. The things I like best about this blend were apparent in this bowl. The virginia flavor evolves from sweet to hay to sweet again throughout. I like this little bit of complexity, there aren't a lot of different flavors, but they do change during the smoke.
The Perique is obvious in this blend, but not overpowering. There is a clear taste of pepper here, but it compliments the VAs very well, and make the smoke a bit more exciting than it might be otherwise.
The room note (ie backyard note for me) is pleasant, not as nice as a straight VA, but still nice. It doesn't burn hot, even in a drier than usual state.
I'd give this blend an 7.5-8/10. It's not a favorite, but I enjoy it quite a bit.

I popped a one year old tin of Escudo a couple days ago and haven't been able to put it down since. I can't believe I have to wait until July to order some more. In my limited experience with Vapers this is the best I have had. I tried a DGT for a half a day and it seemed to grab me by the balls a bit but normally this stuff smokes very well.
The Virginia is sweet and full and the perique is always present which I love. My big problem with Saint james flake was that the Perique would be non existent then all of a sudden it would grab my face and throw it on the pavement. escudo is well behaved and extremely tasty. It smokes well in small and large pipes fully rubbed out or rolled and folded into a plug. Tasty, versatile, consistent. Great stuff!!

Hehe, my thoughts in a nutshell. I have NO experience with Vapers or pipes or pipe tobacco.
But I DO have some pipes. I got a can of this and I was flammered. I like cigars but do not find them
quite tasty enough. This could get me off of cigars FAST. I don't know if it is the best tobacco blend out
there, but it's the best I have had. I have smoked about 9 discs over the past few days. Awesome.
