Any circuit benders out there in the Asylum? I just started getting into the hobby and it is SO fun!!! Circuit bending is where people take old toys/games, rip them apart, play with the wiring, and see what kind of funny noises you can get the "bent" object to make. It is pretty easy to do and it kills time up here in Alaska when it is dark for 20 hours :-)

I posted a video of my very first "bent" toy on YouTube.

I accidentally call this "Pitch Bending" in the video. Technically that is what I am doing...but the hobby is called Circuit Bending. I hope you enjoy =)

If you are interested in this, you should do a few searches on YouTube and Google for "Circuit Bending" and check out some of the amazing things that people who actually know what they are doing can create!!!

p.s. if you decide to try circuit bending...DO NOT use object that plugs into the wall. This hobby is intended for low-voltage items. That is why little toys that make noise are perfect. So, unless you are an electrician, I recommend only sicking to small toys. Taking apart anything that plugs into the wall is too dangerous.

Very cool! I could never do anything like this... but my dog can. Sort of. His favorite toy is a parrot that says "Polly want a cracker" when squeezed and he left it outside one night when it rained. The next morning he retrieved it and brought it in the house. I figured it was ruined when it emitted a low pitched "waaah waaah waah" sound. This is the one toy that he loves and hasn't eviscerated, so I was a little disheartened, but after a day or two it came back to life. Not circuit bending, obviously, but that's the closest I'm ever going to get to it. Stay warm Bobb!

I got some weird noises out of a Furby when I smacked it with a hammer after it would not turn off and drove me nuts.:-)
