Island (The other ones) Reviews>Kristoff Sumatra Robusto
Katmancross 01:51 PM 01-27-2011

Because the Kristoff Sumatra is sort of new, I wanted to save it for the day after my sleep study test. I'm doing this so I can get new equipment to replace my 5 year old equipment which is now held together with tape, glue, and brand new condoms. (No kidding).
The test was a horror. I was wired up tighter than a Polish bologna.
I'm Hungarian.
Didn't sleep a wink last night. They made me sleep on my back. I DON'T sleep on my back. So from 9PM until 5:30 this AM, I lay there choking and gagging. Mmmmmm. Who doesn't love that?

Today is my wife's day off so I get home and she's asleep at 7 and I tripped over every single thing in my luxury penthouse basement. I cannot use the descriptive words that emanated from my wife, Linda Blair.

I got into bed, covered with some kind of gummy crap all over my body to hold the electrodes. I feel like a piece of gum underneath the picnic table. Who cares? I wanted to be unconscious.

The first thing I do is check on other reviews. It seems that about half of them don't care for this stick. So let's see...
Construction is nice. Lots of veins. Solid. No soft spots. And there's that cute little pig tail.
I sniff away and smell earth and cinnmabun, cinnanum, cymanum....Damn! Cinnamon!

I bite the pig tail off as Kreth advises. It came off relatively easy and left just a tiny hole from which to suck the cigar. So far, so good.
Upon light up, I get some sweet tobacco. And a little spice.
I do some cheating and look up what's in this thing. Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers. And a Brazilian binder. And of course, a Sumatran wrapper. I'm partial to Sumatran even though they are very delicate. I have no trouble with it throughout the smoke. The roller must have used a hot glue gun.

The earthy cinnamon is prevalent with some floral notes. It's just this side of medium body.
Halfway through, I'm getting a little buzz. So I put it down. But to its credit, after last night, a Diet Coke would give me a buzz.

The stick isn't that complex. Sweetness seems to be the taste of the day. Yet it's very pleasant. I think a couple months of aging will do wonders. The complexity will open up. As well as the strength.

I take my time and the stick never gets harsh or hot. But it smokes faster than the previous two I reviewed. Maybe 35 minutes.
While the pigtail doesn't keep the end as tight as my dog's eyes when he's out back doing a poo poo, it stays nicely configured and small.
Smoking it to the nub is no problem. This is a diabetic's dream. All the sweetness I could ask for without going into anaphylactic shock.

Of the 3 I've smoked, I'd say this is the weakest formula. Aging. Aging. Aging.

Thanks to my son in law, Mark, for allowing me to use his equipment...especially his award for “Life Saving.”

I'm being asked about the hardware.
The pistol is a S&W M&P .40 cal. 14 in the magazine and 1 in the chamber.
The shotgun is a Mossberg 590. 8 in the tube and 1 in the chamber.

I'm sorry. I don't know what you mean? Is 35 minutes quickly? Or is it slowly? Like my brain.

Seems really quick to me. I usually get somewhere in the hour to hour and a half range from a robusto.

Yeah, me too. That's why I said it was burning like a witch in 1645.
For that kind of dough, it should last longer.

I even say that I take my time and it still burns quickly.

Ah, you left out the Salem reference above.

Agreed. I hate smoking a stick that goes up like a sparkler.

The M & P is not mine. It is my son in law's. I've shot it and I like it a lot. A Glock on 'rhoids.
I have a Glock 30..a .45 cal sub compact and I love my gun. I can conceal it under a T Shirt.

Was the cigar light as in under filled? Weird that it smoked that quick with you going easy on it.
