Yup, prolly a 500cc motorcycle engine. Those shiftercarts can hit 150 mph real quick. Figure 550cc engine (bored) and a 50 lb cart with a XXlb driver.

I've seen a youtube vid of a car built on lithium ion batteries that could outrun a corvette. It had something to do about the lack of need to shift gears in the little battery car.

HP to Weight Ratio
Of course how the HP is applied to the ground (traction) is a big factor.
