As the topic states, I love this time of year in New England!!! Most people that are cigar smokers take a hiatus because of the cold, I look forward to it!! I love heading out on the lake next to my house taking my dog for a walk and having a lighting up a cigar. It's the prefect length for a walk and cigar, by the time I get back to my house, the normal cigar is just about done!!!
There's something about the cold, the fresh air and a cigar that just makes it so enjoyable!!!
So I say, if you've never enjoyed a walk on a lake with a cigar, get out there, talk to the local ice fishermen and enjoy, because it's worth it!!!!
And if you haven't guessed, today was my first walk on the lake of the year!!!

Last time I stood on a frozen lake smoking a cigar the wrapper kept exploding. I went through three or four cigars and it happened every time. Not only that, but it was damn hard to smoke with my big azz gloves on. But I do enjoy the cold winter air on occasion. Just not for 4 or 5 months.

Todd good to know Masscupic is frozen and safe. I am giving my pond 2 more weeks before I venture on it. If it's safe....pond hockey season starts!

This happens to me occasionally. But it hasn't happened in a long time (knocking on wood). Typically don't wear gloves when I'm smoking, just keep my hand tucked way in my jacket!

I'm just waiting for Winnipesaukee to completely ice over, now that's a place to walk around. Alton Bay has the Winter Airplane runway on the ice, stopping in at the Winipesaukee Cigar Co right there and watch all the people pulling thier campers on the ice. Now that's fun!

I friggin' hate winter. I hate everything about it. People tell me that I should move someplace warmer, but I'm a Masshole and I'd have no friends. I take the "T", and on a good day my commute is an hour and a half each way, but in this lovely weather it stretches out to about two hours, and half of the buses don't have any heat. I friggin' hate winter.
:-) I had to vent.

Temp where I'm at in MN is 7 degrees. That means exploding cigar wrappers. I had a couple this weekend sitting in a hot tub up in Duluth, though.
:-) It just gets too damn cold to smoke for most of the winter here. I have a spot in my garage, but it's difficult carving out the time I need to finish a stick with a wife and 3 kids.

My thoughts on winter are as such; Oh Dear Lord, please let spring arrive early this year and let summer stay late. After about a month of friggin cold, gray weather I start to feel my "Jack" coming on, if ya get my drift. Drift, snow drift, get it...All work and no play make Kevin a dull boy...

I understand that some people don't like winter. I on the other hand hate Spring!! Too buggy, muddy, and too much cleaning up of the yard.
I still love that I get to go out and walk in the middle of the lake and have some piece and quiet away from any cars and spending some quality time with my dog and a nice cigar.
