OK, this one really hurts. I loved this guy. A great musician, neglected by too many for too long. Rest in peace, brother.

Godspeed. I saw him once way back in the late 80s. He was opening for Hank Jr. Very good show.

Leon Russell was a damn fine musician indeed. I had a couple of his albums from the early 70' (duplicated versions were on 8-trk for my Blaupunkt 8-trk stereo unit in the car w/4 five inch speakers:-)). Use to rock out to this guy on a regular basis.

Saw him in concert (August 1973) back in New York City with friends who lived in Plainview (out on Long Island). Good night and great concert!

Rest in Peace brother...

Leon's "Back to the Island" takes me away from when life sucks. It reminds me of my favorite place, Martha's Vineyard. My safe and happy place. Even if I can't get there physically that song transports my heart there and makes it all better. I'm headed there Friday and will be sure to raise a glass to the man.:-)

One of the greats of the genre for sure. R.I.P., Mr. Russell.
