Another short & sweet review...no need to drag this out. Simply a damn good cigar. I must have been the only one in the good ole USA not to have tried this little gem. Fortunately, a bud who owns a local cigar shop gifted me one after I turned him onto a riteous maduro stick. Late in the day and he was looking to close up shop, but then he fired up a heater. So, I asked him to pick me a short, quick stick with which to join him. He came out with the Short Story and I was able to go to work on it. This was my first Cameroon wrapper cigar, so the SS was one I was looking forward to.
Very mild pre-light aroma and nice, open draw after carefully cutting the cap. Initial taste was the fullest throughout the cigar. Immediately, an aroma and taste of really good salty buttered toast. It sounds nuts, but I swear that's what came through. Soon followed by smooth aged tobacco, a little leather and cedar. Really tasty cigar with exceptionally smooth flavors. Burn was flawless, as was the draw. At one point, a sweet taste came through on the lips- not in the overall taste...very interesting. Did I mention this was really smooth & creamy?
Took this little figurado to the nub, which I rarely do. Did not get too hot and no off flavors. Overall, perfect construction, burn and draw. Time from cut to set down was 50 min. Flavors, while on the mild/medium side, were very nice. All in all, I'd say this is the perfect stick for those times when you want a good tasting quick cigar. Highly recommended.
