Island (The other ones) Reviews>NHC seleccion limitada reserva lonsdale

New Havana Cigars came with a limited edition 6¾x42 lonsdale, made in the My Father factory and based upon the original Tatuaje blend. The cigars come with two wrappers, a Habano and a broadleaf. I smoked the Reserva, which is the broadleaf wrapper. The designer of the band must be a Montecristo fan, as the band is a copy from the Cuban Montecristo band.

Image

The cigar feels silky but with a good construction and it has a strong horse smell. The wrapper is dark and pretty and mild oily. The cigar is slightly box pressed. The predraw is great.

Image

I taste pepper and coffee, but mainly black pepper. After a quarter of an inch I taste pepper with wood and leather. After an inch I taste leather with a little bit of pepper and a tiny bit of chocolate on the background.

Image

The leather and pepper are Cubanesque. Halfway the chocolate gets a bit stronger. The leather turns into wood with a bit pepper and a chocolate aftertaste.

This cigar lasted me and hour and twenty minutes. The draw was great and I got a nice amount of medium thick smoke. The white ash is firm and the burn is good. The cigar is full flavored and full bodied.

Would I buy this cigar again? Yes, I liked it.

I really like both this cigar and the natural wrapper. These are definitely worth a try to those who haven't had one.

great review of one of my top five sticks of the year! Your review sounded similar to mine. Anyone... If you are a tat fan and have not smoked these, you are missing out.

PS.
I think the band actually is based off the same cutting die as the the OR El Triunfador.

This and the OR Triunfador bands are actually based on the Cuban Rafael Gonzalez band.

Pete does that with a lot of his sticks. The Cabaiguan originals' band is based off the Cuban Quai D'Orsay band.
These sound good, thanks for the review.

haha I was about to post that same image. :-)

Also, I was thinking about grabbing a sampler of these since I have yet to try anything from New Havana. However, the description on their website mentions several times that they are "based on the original Tatuaje blend" and the bands certainly bear a resemblance to the original brown label Tats.

Is there any difference between the two flavor wise? If not I'd rather just pick up some Tats from the neighborhood shop instead.

To me these taste just like Noella reservas, just longer. If your local shop has those, buy them all and send me your address :-)
