General Discussion>Oh noes, no more CA for me while at work

Damn IT folks :-)

They are banning all sites that are filtered through a 3rd party selected category of 'tobacco' from being viewable through our work computers. CA was in that category.

Proxies, categorized as anonymizer websites were blocked as well. I wonder if I could create my own proxy through a personal domain?

FYI to anyone, I may not be able to respond much during the day. :-):-):-)

Yep, my work did this too. Now just use the phone. Better anyhow as I don't leave any trails on my computer to show the boss I wasn't working. :-)

Please PM or post. All I could find was a few translator sites, and if they are popular, they have been banned as well.

Want a way around it? Try this :-)
No programs to download, no proxies, no IP tricks. (no guarantee it will work either though lol)

Visit Google Translate http://translate.google.com/

Type in or paste the URL you want to visit in the second form. In this case:
http://www.cigarasylum.com/vb/index.php

Make sure that the translation is set to translate the site "to" English. Leave "from" language as Spanish.

Pull up the page as usual.

Google translate should read the page, copy the content and display a temporary cache of it from their own server. Since the site was already in English, it does not perform any actual translation. You will see the page as it is, or rather, as Google sees it. The links should also work as Google sees it.

Best of all, almost no one blocks Google.

I'm in the same boat as you.
Thanks for the tip, Kelly. I'll have to try that one Monday at work.

The google trick doesn't work. Work also blocks any popular language translators as they are "anonymizer" websites.

The Crackberry is the way to go! It really is best to keep the trail off of the work computer.
