Discussion>my new to me vintage pipes and stand

ok so i found this at basically a yard sale the stand and 2 old pipes for 12 bucks

first pipe is a Vintage Ehrlich imported briarwood tobacco pipe unfinished and at some point it looked like this

the 2nd pipe is a dr grabow silver duke adjustomatic pipes pat.#2461905

the normal size filter was to long and had to cut it off. any info on these pipes would be cool.
I cleaned them with lot's of vodka and scrubbed the stems with very light steel-wool took out 1/2 the cake from the dr. not much in the other pipe any suggestions before first use? thanks

any ideas if a good vodka cleaning was good enough? also i guess i will maybe carve it a little more not sure yet.

Just fair warning: remember, the fresh cut briar will more than likely be a much different color than the previously cut stuff, but great find!

I love the stand and the pipes are very cool. I have an English brier that my dad brought back from the service that was used by my grandfather. I've never lighted it, since it reminds me of the one grandfather I never met.

I also have the clay pipes from the late 1800s from Ireland that the family brought over.

Now that is awesome. I wish I had some of the old Supple family pipes. I don't even know if they exist anymore.

thanks everyone Bear your right and i will probably keep it like this as i think i see what he was carving it looks to me like 2 dogs
one on each side there heads facing you while you smoke maybe pointers or maybe i spent to much time looking at it.
