Discussion>New pipe smoker!

Me...

I'm new to all smokeing, cigars and pipes. This has been interesting. I'm not sure what I enjoy more just yet. Maybe I shouldn't take on two new hobbies at once. I think, more than anything, I enjoy the peace the most.

I just ordered a cob online for under $10, I'm cheap, what can I say. I was searching ebay, but I didn't want to waste money, on something I know nothing about.

I'm going to have to read over the old fart thread. Any other suggestions are appreciated.

:-)

Definitley check out the NST for pipes:

It's a great way to get to try a bunch of different baccy and figure out your flavor profile.

Second Jim's suggestion. Have at a round or two in the Newbie Trade Thread. Get yourself some tobaccos to try. As for pipes, cobs are fine. Many smokers have a few to try. I would stick with cobs for a little as you learn to smoke. I have a few briar pipes that I purchased early on and have sadly beat the hell out of learning to smoke.

My first pipe was a cobb, and as a "regular" pipe smoker, I still smoke my cobbs. They're cheap, and loyal! Enjoy the new slope!!

Welcome! I also recommend the NST; it'll get you a good smattering of samplers to try and will hopefully help you find something that piques your interest. And cobs may be inexpensive but they're quite practical and good smokers. Enjoy. :-)

You're going to love smoking a pipe! You decide how long and how much you'd like to smoke. I've also found those normally opposed to cigars (and cigarettes) welcome the smell of a pipe. I get tons of comments while smoking my pipe out on the stoop. Enjoy!
