im just just curious if any of the experienced coffee guys have every tried this method of roasting before, if so, how did it turn out?

Looks like a nice little setup, never tried it though. My air popper is just so easy, no building required :-)

Ya know, you can do it in a pan on the stove top; you just have to use a pan that you don't use for anything else. Our former land lady is from Italy, and she taught my wife. It's too easy! :-)

I've done the popcorn popper method and it works well but you have to keep those beans moving and it has a small roast amount. I have a heatgun that has a setting for 500f I may try that. I guess if you can heat up your beans to 450 (?) and keep em moving your golden and can roast in darn near anything. non flammable of course

I would rather not have chaff rolling out of that into a hot flame in my kitchen. With halfway decent hot air poppers and a little care and feeding, I think this is more a solution looking for a problem. I like the drill rotisserie idea though, and have seen that kind of rig before.

Pete has a good point, the chaff can catch on fire so take precautions.
