Currently, the above fire started around 11:45AM (more or less) today, and has now grown up to 450 Acres at this time. I'm about 3 miles NE of the main fire. Folks living on Autumn Place and Shady Glen Court as well as homes on Magnolia Way W of Oak Ridge Drive have been ordered to evacuate by door to door contact by LASD personnel. 3 alarm fire with over 200 firefighting personnel on the ground, and LA County Fire and Cal Fire helicopters, and fire retardant dropping aircraft in the sky's.

Looking W from Wylie Canyon Rd across the 5 freeway:

Next couple of photo's looking S from Pico Canyon in Stevenson Ranch:

Here's a video link looking S from Richard Rioux park showing a LA County fire helicopter nailing a ridge spot-on with H2O:

I hear you Mark. Its 90+ degrees here and firefighting conditions are not the best.

A big "thumbs down" to the local news channels (CBS 2, NBC 4, ABC 7, and KCAL 9). 2, 4, and 9 are more concerned with $$$ while showing infomercials (hey, there's some important stuff to show while a local community is looking for assistance). ABC 7 (which is 4 hours late in showing any sort of coverage of the fire) feels its more important for us to know what in the "eff" is happening in Michigan and China. Big effing deal. Who cares.

This would have been a great way to become involved in the community and local coverage, but I guess everywhere else is more important than home:-)

Thanks everyone. I passed all those positive thoughts and prayers along to the residents of Stevenson Ranch and all of the firefightjng personnel and LEO'. My home was approximately 4 miles to the NE, and the burn was starting to move S after my initial posting. Burning embers can carry some distance in ths dark smoke and wind. Fortunately, those items did not migrate our way.

Latest report I received this morning, 1100+ acres burned, 49% containment, and no homes were lost. 3 firefighters suffered minor injuries during the fight.

Due to the rugged terrain, it was mainly a fight from the air via helicopters, large jets, and a C130. They all did a great job of knocking this bad boy down asap:-)

As far as l'm concerned, they all deserved their pay (and maybe a big bonus too):-)
