Coffee Discussion>Capresso 4-Cup Espresso?
rack04 02:58 PM 07-23-2009
I just celebrated my 5 year anniversary at my company. In recognition I get to choose a free gift. One of the options is a Capresso 4-Cup Espresso. Is this machine not worth free? Basically I'm looking for a quick/easy espresso maker.

It's not really espresso, but if you're not a connoisseur, you might not be able to tell.

Because it don't brew with enough atmospheres of pressure? :-)

Probably because it's steam driven, not pump driven, if you want to get technical. I'd get it and enjoy the great coffee it's capable of making.

I had a similar machine for years before getting my current machine.

Heck, it's been said in these parts recently that anything less than a Silvia isn't a "real" expresso machine, but I sure enjoy the fake expresso coming out of my Baby Gaggia every day, even if it's "missing stuffs":-)

Enjoy your machine, congrats on 5 years, and be very skeptical of stuffs you read in these threads.

I had a steam machine too. It is OK for making frothy milk drinks, but it will not make a real espresso, just strong coffee. But if you like Lattes...they are OK.

I think I'll pick something else because I've got a moka that makes strong coffee. I was hoping for more or an espresso.

:-):-)

Except for the Silvia is an over priced PIA that requires a PID to get stable temps at which point you have spent enough to buy an HX machine plus there are now machines, your baby included, that can do what a Silvia does just more stable for 1/2 the price. So let the Silvia geezers say what they will, they probably still pay $25 for their dial up connection as well.

Oh yeah, believe all that you read here!:-)

Free is free, yes most of these steam machines end up being paper weights or storage eye sores but it will steam milk and it will give you an "espresso beverage". I am no expert but it seems to get a real espresso machine will cost about $300. To make espresso for more than 2 in a timely fashion costs more, to play god with your espresso is somewhere between $2000-20,000 give or take $1.
