Had a new Belgian Ale last night. Its brewed by the Anker Brewery in Mechelen Belgium. It's a dark ale that they apparently brew for Christmas only.
I've had some Christmas ales that left me wondering just what in blazes I had put into my mouth. This isn't one of them. It's mellow, satisfying and while I had initially chilled it in my refrigerator for a couple of days, I found the taste was even better as it approached room temperature. I could see sitting outside around the fire pit with a good mild cigar with this ale. I'd go with a mild because I wouldn't want to overpower the ale.
It comes in a 1 pt. 9.4 oz bottle and I paid around 9 dollars for it. I'm buying some more as soon as I can drive to Martin's Wine Cellar in New Orleans.
