[Rant On]
As most know my son had surgery to replace a vertebra and fix his broken back. Well today he was scheduled to see his surgeon for a follow up visit and get what he can and can't do before he heads back to school. Last month my employer changed medical insurance plans. Come to find out this morning the new plan does not cover this surgeon! And it's more than a referral that has to get done now. I have to get the primary care doctor, his "regular" doctor, to do some kind of special request for him to see this surgeon.
God I hate this sh!t!!!!!!!
[Rant off for now]

Health insurance is out of control. (Not a political statement, just the truth.)

I think I know which company you're talking about.
Is it VerizonEmbarqBluePartnersInternational?

LOL Col!
Sucks to hear that Al! I don't know what can be done to fix the state of insurance companies in this country, but they are driving the people who need and use it to require stronger meds just from having to deal with them!

Every medical claim I've ever tried to file has been denied at least once. Keep fighting for what's rightfully yours. I feel your frustration and wish you and your son the best.

That blows Al. Medical insurance companies are a pain in the ass.

I had a medical insurance company cancel me the day I turned 23. Got no notice, no warning. I found out with a week's left supply of medication that keeps me alive, when I went to the pharmacy to get more and was denied insurance.
Gotta love insurance agencies....

*UPDATE*
Due to the insurance "issue" the surgeon said he would see Jr. today, NO CHARGE!
How cool is that!!!

That's great news, a real rarity these days for a medical professional to do that.

That IS a rare thing and a standup move on the doctor's part!
:-)
Just keep in mind: if you need anyone kicked in the nads over this deal just let me know and I'll be there with my steel-toe boots.

That's great that the surgeon did that.
I can kinda understand why insurance companies are like that though. Some people would want to go see a specialist for a mosquito bite. This helps screen them out. Kind o a pain, but still necessary to keep costs down. Everytime my wife has a claim I have to fill out a form stating that my wife is not insured elsewhere. Last time I wrote a nice message on the back tellling them if anythig changes I'll let them know. And to not be so cheap and jut pay the bill.

Sorry to hear about the trouble your going through, but happy to hear that all worked out.
I'm going through a similar issue with my doctor. I had surgery 3 weeks ago, and am having some complications. My surgeon ordered a specialty CAT Scan and the amount of hoops I had to jump through was ridiculous.
Going back to see him today... Hopefully no issues.
Sorry for the thread jack and rant
:-)l
Hope all works out for your boy !!

Good on the doctor for picking up the slack left by the insurance company.
