Accessory Discussion / Reviews>Acquiring Spanish Cedar

I'm currently drawing up schematics to make my first humidor as a birthday gift to my father.

What does the online market look for Spanish Cedar? I'd only need pieces 4" thick...

Or is there a chance it could be acquired locally through either a big-box hardware retailer or a Do-It Best Center?

Thanks so much in advance.

CLICK!

Sorry, couldn't help myself.. I for one have never seen spanish cedar for sale anywhere (lowes, home depot, menards). I am assuming the internet would be your best bet...

Hey man, I respect the collective expertise of this forum more than I trust Google when it comes to cigars.

Well thanks to Colin (ya douche! LOL) and the all-powerful Google, I found some in the dimensions that I'm looking for, at least from a thickness. I can deal with with other dimensional abnormalities.

But I will check that out, sir. Thank you.

He's a brother here on the forum, right?

I think I've seen his stuff in the For-Profit board.

Look to buy from lumber suppliers, not humidor makers...unless you want a big markup in the price.
I bought Spanish Cedar several years ago, I used Google search to find it. I don't remember where I bought it from.

My local lumberyard ordered it for me, min order was 100 board feet, I think I bought 60 of it, he sold the rest. I got first pick of the lumber I wanted. I'd do it again that way in a heartbeat.

You don't need Spanish Cedar to do this.
