General Discussion>A curse on virus writer's

So, I got a little present from some scum sucking sob, the "Total Security ver 4.52" . This was a sweet one (and AVG missed it). It pretty much locked up the computer and I've been messing with it most of the day.

My laptop was pretty much locked up. Couldn't load any programs or get online. I kept getting virus warning pop up's from this program and couldn't do a thing with the computer. I finally booted in safe mode but don't really know what I'm doing with computer's for the most part. I was able to access the internet and e-mail but it sure was slow.

So, I did a "restore" to a previous date. That worked. I then downloaded "Spyware Doctor", ran a scan and now things appear to be back to normal. My two computer's inside the house were not infected, just my laptop the "den" (garage.) The only thing I look at online on this computer that I don't on the other two is the online "USA Today". Wonder if that's where I picked up the virus?

Twenty years in a federal prison would be the minimum sentence I'd impose on these bottom feeder's and that's after they've been placed against a wall and shot:-)

I'd run Anti-Malware too just to be safe.

Some brothers recommended this to me here and it's worked like a charm.

Never thought I would say this but.................
...................don't know what it is to run any anti virus software.
Nearly two years now, no problems.

God I love my Mac.:-)

Not to hate on Macs too much, but it's been very widely publicized lately that Snow Leopard is in fact easier to hack than Most up-to-date versions of Windows.

I don't run AVG anymore for what it's worth WyoBob, it's just no longer up to par for catching enough of the stuff out there (it was rated Advanced by AV-Comparatives, which is middle of the road). I personally recommend Avast! Home Edition as a solid free AV system.

For malware, is this what I want? http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

Any problems running AVG, PC Tools Spyware Doctor and Malwarebytes all on the same computer?

Thanks.

I was actually thinking of upgrading to Snow Leopard but will look into this first. I enjoy the freedom I have now and would hate to compromise that with an upgrade I can do without.

There should be a National Beat A Virus Writer day. I'd vote for that! :-)

I hate the aftermath of viruses and spyware. In my job I get to clean up customers' PCs when they click on that really nifty looking link and get the latest spyware. :-)
