General Discussion>How do I resize jpg pic?
Metalnoise777 10:42 AM 01-12-2009
Hey all,
Well, Im still fairly new here obviously, but Ive been updating my profile with info and pics...I have a few cool pics of me in the desert smokin with my buds in uniform from an awsome bomb Thompson CO sent me...Anyway, Id like to post these pics as well, but it seems the pics are too big. The pics are JPGs, but are 4.20 MB and 3648 x 2738 pixels...in order to post a pic in my album it has to be no more than 97.7 KB and 600 x 600 pixels..

Is there anyway for me to downsize these pics so I can upload them? Any advice or info anyone has would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and have a great and blessed day!:-)

If you upload your pictures to imageshack, they will let you post them in the size you desire, they do the resizing for you.

Mac -> preview tools -> Adjust size , and save

windows ->
To start microsoft Paint, click 'Start', 'Programs', 'Accessories', then 'Paint'
Open the image file you wish to edit
Click the 'Image' Menu at the top and select "Stretch/Skew Image"
Choose a percentage figure to resize the image: to avoid distortion, choose the same percentage for horizontal and vertical stretch
Click "Ok"
Once you have the desired size, click 'File', then 'Save' or 'File', then 'Save As..' to prevent overwriting the original image

Second Method
Select the entire image
Hold down Ctrl and press - or + to resize the image.
then save it

OR...if you have it...

go to your pictures
right click on the picture and select: Open With>Microsoft Office Picture Manager

then: Select Pictures> Resize

then you can pick the size on the right hand side from the drop down menus

if you ever want to do anything beyond just resizing, you might want to check out a program called gimp...

:-) This is how I resize all my pics for uploading to the forums. Set the aspect ratio as locked and then scale by digital photos to 20% of the original to get a nice size for uploading.

I also use gimp2, but mostly for more complex stuff like scaling animated gifs.

That's the one I use for all my photo editing. Excellent free program.

Better than a lot of the ones you have to pay for.

If you wanna do more with your images, you can use the online version of photoshop express. I believe it's free:
