Never did get a chance to see him in concert, but enjoyed his music since childhood. Rest n peace, Mr. Becker.

Sad news. Few groups produced such sophisticated music, and that alone earns him kudos. Rest in peace.

What's scaring the heck out of me is that I listened to all these bands and they are close to my age and now we are losing them!

RIP, Brother.

I saw Steely Dan in concert once, long ago. Such a great band!

May He Rest In Peace.

I am moved to note they had one of the best names for a band ever, one both racy and literary, yet one many people did not get.

Have become a fan over the past few years. Really good music. True classics that will continue to be listened to for years to come. RIP

RIP, I heard through a friend that knows him that Dave Hlubeck died as well.

Both Becker and Fagen were/are phenomenal musicians, and without a core band, their recordings and live shows were performed with an ever-changing cast of session musicians, comprising some equally great players. My favorite song and album is "Aja,' if I had to pick.

Another well-known musician, songwriter, and producer have taken his final bow. His contribution to the music industry will live-on forever.

Very sad when I heard this yesterday, I've loved steely dan for as long as I can remember, deacon blues has a special place in my heart. Only got to see them once, 4 years ago this month, loved every minute of it. I tried to find a video of Walter's "Hey Nineteen Rant" from that night but can't find it, but I've seen a few good ones from other shows on youtube

I was fortunate enough to see Steely Dan three times. Walter's talents and wit will be missed.
