Wine, Beer, and Spirits>Pappy Van Winkle

Ok, as we all know there is no real good or bad anything, just a difference what tastes good to an individual.

I bought a bottle of 20 year old Pappy Van Winkle for a special person as he was retiring from the Navy and moving away. Peeps, if you like bourbon this stuff is liquid crack. Absolutley love it. Tasted like no other bourbon I have ever had. Extremely woodsey, med bite, and charcoal. Silky, syurpy smooth to the tounge. At $111.00 a bottle we limit ourselves to 2 shots at a time on a clean pallette. Over 2 or 3 ice cubes it just becomes like mana from heaven.

Best part, he said he will pick up the 25 year old bottle for a comparison. Defintly worth one bottle in your life time to try.

Yea, but now it's calling me and it's definitly not an every day drink on my income. The part about it tasting like no other bourbon is true. There is no other bourbon i have had that I can even say go drink that and it will be close. Pappy is one of a kind bourbon.

That was thoughtful gift.

I bought a friend the same bottle for his birthday. Very nice indeed... Not as robust or viscous as like Woodford or Blanton. Certainly very fancy stuff...

I would agree, it's not a in your face bourbon. A lot of people like that, my Dad likes his bourbon to fight back a little. Very sophisticated depth of flavor and inique taste. What kills me is my friend told me a I have to hold the bottle so he doesn't kill it........ Like I have that kind of restraint?

Never had the 20 year, I'll have to put that on the to try list :-)
The younger stuff doesn't do much for me but some brands really age quite well.

I really like the 20 yr. Great bottle at reasonable price.

Hehe depends on your budget. I think it is pretty fair for the quality and taste, but not great on my budget to buy :-)

It's just under $100 at my B&M. From what I gather, it's quite difficult to make a 20 year Bourbon, that is why there's only a couple on the market.

Sure that isn't the 15 year old Pappy? If you can get the 20 year under $100 that is stellar!

Yes, I am sure. I think the 15 year is $70ish.
