Gotta love the flavor text on these being some mysterious cigar batch found in limited quantities in paper wrapping and so on and so on. The band doesn't really show the cigar as anything exciting but for some reason since getting these in my COTM club i've been dying to finally try one so I have two and i wanted to review it without even smoking one so i can age my other a little longer and see how they match up later. So far this month all my COTM club cigars have been solid smokes unlike last month but that's bound to happen. Anyways, ON WITH THE REVIEW!!!

Wrapper: Light milk chocolate wrapper with some small veins, double capped

Draw: Draw is perfect with a little sweetness and creaminess prelight

creaminess, caramel, sweetness, I can see where it gets the name. You can taste an almost cream soda-like flavor, very creamy finish, almonds, white pepper, vanilla, this may actually be one of the few cigars that lives up to it’s name.

Image
creaminess, still has a thick creamy finish to it, vanilla, white pepper, hints of spice now, toastiness, The sweetness isn’t so pronounced now,

Image
earthiness, creaminess, still a very creamy finish, vanilla, slight hint of leather, nuttiness, toastiness, white pepper, caramel, this would be a great breakfast cigar or dessert cigar, coffee, It seems weird that I’m sipping mountain dew while smoking a cream soda, some chocolate in the final 1/3rd,

Ash/Burn: Burn was even to start but got slightly uneven at the end but nothing requiring any touch ups

Final Thoughts: So, I've been wanting to try this ever since I got it and maybe it's still too early but i actually enjoyed this cigar quite a bit. I'd definitely recommend you at least try a 5 pack. The cream soda-like flavors were there at the start and even in the pre-light draw. It eventually settled down with it's sweetness and found more earthy flavors. I didn't get much pepper off of it despite it's namesake. Now the cigar is on the milder side with a medium body to it and a very creamy finish all the way through so if you like that change of pace kind of cigar then this one is for you as well. You'll have to forgive me my head is still whirling from this recent bomb but i hope you enjoyed this review! God bless you all!

I won one of those in a raffle last week. It drew fine and flavors were decent, but I could NOT keep that thing lit. Like they'd blended asbestos into the tobacco.
It's not like I'm new to cigars. Very strange.

Huh? that's strange. I had no real burn issues. did you smoke it right away or let it rest a while in your humidor?

I smoked it a day after winning it. There were other cigars in the same ziplock bag. No issue with the Liga Privada No. 9 that I tried a day later. (It was a pack put together by the guy running the raffle, from his personal stash.)

Sorry, Jason, my mood isn't great right now. As you might have read in Banter, just ran into Bacon Bill earlier. If you don't know who that is, ask around here..and count yourself lucky. :-)

no need to apologize. I didn't take offense to anything you said to me whether you meant it or not. I hope your mood gets better though. Life too short to let people effect you like that. hang in there buddy and God bless you!

Used to smoke a lot of Caldwells but my last couple purchases have been very disappointing. Much like Brian, they seem to need lots of relights and the draws have been questionable as well. That being said, if I find a 5er on sale I might give it a whirl. Thanks for the review Jason.

I am a caldwell whore. I think they are one of the most underrated brands right now. I have tried almost all of these L&F series. They are all very hit & miss and honestly have been more misses than hits as of late......

Chip, have you noticed any drop in quality for cigars like the Long Live the King or The King is Dead?

No. I go through a LOT of K.I.D because I love a Dominican Puro. I get the occasional plug but that is about it....

Glad your experience has been better than mine. I'm afraid to buy any more LLtK because they've been so disappointing the last few months.

I got a sampler of some of the lost and found, honestly can't remember if this is in there or not.

While at a lounge, I did try the butter one they had, man what a creamy, smooth stick.

So, I decided to check out my second caldwell today that got in my COTM club. The first time was an interesting and enjoyable experience. Definitely a mild cigar from what I remember.

pre-light aromas have a definite barnyard smell with sweet grass/hay

Wrapper: Milk chocolate wrapper with some small veins, flat head with a double cap

Draw: a little loose with cream soda flavors

Image

Image
vanilla, nutmeg, very creamy finish, cream soda flavors, sweet hay/grass, mild leather flavors, some earthiness, almost has a sugar cookie flavors to it, a little bit of white pepper, has a generic wood flavor,

Image
vey creamy and mild, vanilla, some spice, white pepper, caramel, sweet hay/grass, small hints of savoriness, sugar cookie, some earthiness, a slight leather tone, finish is creamy and coats the mouth almost oily

Image
vanilla, creamy finish, nuttiness, earthiness, a savoriness is in full swing, hay/grass, leather, sugar cookie, white pepper,

Ash/Burn: Ash was fairly packed with a little shedding. mostly white with pepper flecks, the burn was a little uneven requiring some touching up

Final Thoughts: The consistency is there on this cigar because it smoked EXACTLY like the previous cigar. Flavors were good if a little too mild for me. I wouldn't go out and hunt these down myself but if you like milder cigars then this is the exact cigar of you. Strength does build towards the end but i wanted more pepper to start. I still think it's worth a 5 pack to try out. The cigar is truth in advertising because it is a cream soda cigar with some pepper i just wanted more. I hope you enjoyed my re-review of this cigar and have a blessed day! God bless you all!
