I didn't know where to post this and figured it was almost a cigar smoking accessory.

My camera is a Nikon Coolpix S8000 and I can't find the right settings to take close-up pictures of the cigars I smoke. The autofocus doesn't focus (when I push the button half way, I get the red square and if by chance, I get the green one, once I take the pic, it re-blurs) so all I get is images of blurry brown sticks.

Can anyone help?

Thanks.

Perhaps try the macro setting. Icon should look like a flower?

Thanks Col.

It works half the time now, which is better than before. It depends more on the lighting and proximity to the subject than the settings, I think.

If it works like mine, you have to zoom in/out until the flower turns yellow which indicates optimal setting, then let the autofocus do its job.
