I see that so much at the shop I work at. Especially amongst the new guys.. Even if I ask them if they would like me to cut it, they insist on doing it their own. Ten minutes later, they come demanding a new stick because the one they bought was of poor quality...

We had a customer that did! He normally takes his cigars right down to toothpick level, so he lit it up!

Wow, I can honestly say, even when I started I did not cut that much off. I did not let the shop keeper cut mine though, rather I had him instruct me while I did it. I also have gotten into using a punch more than a cutter.
