Flashy Syracuse guard Dwayne Washington has died from a brain tumor at the age of 52. With others such as Chris Mullin and Patrick Ewing, he helped establish the fledgling Big East Conference as a national power, helped kickstart the new sports network ESPN, and was a major factor in making both the Orange and Jim Boeheim household names.
Rest in peace, Dwayne. You were never truly The Pearl that was Earl Monroe, but you certainly did not disgrace your chosen nickname.
