not sure if this is the right forum for this but hey what the heck. I am a proud MARINE. I served as a Helicopter Crew Chief for 5years from 2000-2005. Well being that i live in the chicago area i have never really seen many active duty Marines around here. Well 2 weeks ago i was driving to work and i almost drove straight off the road. A CH-53E and one of those Ospreys had just landed in the parking lot of the local community college. I immediatly called in to work and told them i would be a few minutes late. after chatting with the pilot and the crew chief i found out it was the 1st annual marine week in chicago and they were there to show off the helicopters to the midwest. My heart was racing and i was so happy. I never thought i would see my helicopter again. Well seeing as im a new dad i did the the only thing i could think of and went online to find out were i could take my 3 month old to get his picture taken with daddy's helo
Found out they were doing a whole presentation at the local horse track. here are the pictures and Semper Fi. I never really realized what it meant "once a marine always a marine"

Damn Glad To See Another Brother Around These Parts. Check out
www.usmc.mil they've got a good article about Marine Week in Chicago and Fleet Week in NYC. The only bad part about it for me was that my BLT isn't going to chop to the 24th MEU until sometime around the mid-July, guess I just missed that one.
