Discussion>Got some pipe tobacco in a cigar bomb

so I also got a few bags of pipe tobacco in a bomb. At first I thought it was to roll your own cigars but then I realized I didn’t have any wrapper and it didn’t look like pipe tobacco till the last bag was shredded the others were longer strands. I don’t own a pipe and never really thought about it till now I know a little about it like you need to tamp a pipe and clean it. So question is how do I store it and when I go buy a pipe what should I look for?

Start cheap. A decent corn cob should be about $10 and will give a nice smoke. Keep it in the zip lock bags if thats what they are in and if you want more seal to keep it fresh a tupperware should suffice. I would not store it with your cigars though.

There are arguments for both sides when it comes to resting pipes. I would say when starting out resting isnt as important as cleaning.

As you get more seasoned with pipes and different tobaccos you may want to have a separate pipe for aromatic and no aromatics and then later for different blends and cuts. That is way down the slippery slope though.

Corn cob is the way to go for sure. It smokes cooler than briarwood so it makes a good starter.:-)

Stonehaven is good stuff. No need to rest a cob IMHO it takes time to get the technique of packing and smoking a pipe.

Got a cob and tired it once so far but couldn’t keep it lit only for a few minutes then would go out.
